3rd DMCSEE MEETING

The 3rd Meeting of DMCSEE took place in Lubljana Slovenia at the headquarters of DMCSEE Leader EARS. During the meeting all DMCSEE Partners presented the work that had been done until then. The work that had been implemented for each Work Package was presented. All the partners exchanged experiences, difficulties that they had faced and discussed about solutions and the methods that should be followed for achieving the goals that should be reached. Emphasis was given at reporting procedure, deadlines and procedure of reimbursement of costs by ALIANTA.
GEORAMA distributed the leaflets in English to the partners, presented the already implemented dissemination actions (leaflet, 1st newsletter, website) and the dissemination reporting process for the consortium and agreed with EARS to proceed with the preparation of the 2nd Newsletter.
OMSZ presented work in activity 3.1 which is almost finished. The aim of this activity was to collect data and to prepare maps.
Presentation of tasks of 3.2.1 was made by EARS and results for Albania, FYROM, Greece, Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia were presented. EARS stressed that most of partners used SPI calculation using software provided by EARS. OMSZ presented “Software for SPI interpolation by MISH.
EARS also presented the task 3.2.2: PAI and PDSI implementation. VITUKI presented their task is to develop the snow model for the whole DMCSEE region.
AUA presented work on WP4. There was stressed that they had to deal with a lot of problems because of different calculations, regions and different understanding of partners. Missing tasks were pointed out. AUA prepared final report for Greece and sent it to partners as an example. AUA also presented the process of evapotranspiration and micrometeorological station. Regarding 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.3 cheklists and parameters that should be taken into consideration for the preparation of reports would be prepared by EARS, AUA and OMSZ.
Regarding WP5, the preparation of training material and the organisation of the forthcoming training along with organisation of national seminars were also discussed and decisions were made.
EARS presented the goal of the DMCSEE project and background of Drought management centre. EARS sees DMC as a network of national and international technical organizations in the field of meteorology and environmental monitoring, national meteorological and hydrological services, other institutions directly or indirectly involved in drought management and end-users in the countries of the Southeastern Europe. Consequently, the start-up of DMC began with a presentation and work plan for WP6.
Moreover, the 3rd Quality Management Board meeting took place and WP leaders agreed that they will have checklists for their activities and that they will monitor progress of the project and the indicators.
In general, throughout the meeting agreements were reached about the methodology that should be followed for each task and the ways of work of how to proceed with the activities that should be implemented under each task.
The 3rd meeting ended with new deadlines set and a new “to do list” for the forthcoming activities and the responsibilities of each partner.
3rd TRAINING ON IRRIGATION SCHEDULING SYSTEMS

The main aim of the training that followed the meeting was to improve knowledge and capacities of DMCSEE project partners in irrigation scheduling systems which are necessary for drought monitoring.
Irrigation Demand Management as drought mitigation measure was introduced by the prominent Professor L.S. Pereira from the Technical University of Lisbon. Mr Pereira also presented an introduction to ISAREG model. Theoretical introduction of ISAREG model was followed by practical examples. Finally, practical work on ISAREG model was conducted by dr. P. Paredes (Technical University of Lisbon). The ISAREG model can be found and downloaded from DMCSEE website (www.dmcsee.eu).
